POY Manufacturing Plant Ltd.
is the pioneer in the sector of Partially Oriented Yarn (POY)
manufacturing in Bangladesh. It was incorporated as a private
limited
company in early nineties by acquiring 4.1 Acers of land at kalurghat in
Chittagong and commences commercial operations in
the same year. At present it is one of the largest projects of the
country in POY manufacturing.
Textile business is now booming among all other business in Bangladesh.
On this circumstance to support our forward linkage
we have started POY section since 2004. Now MEB POY Manufacturing Plant
Ltd. owns 2 (two) projects which are MEB
Textile Unit-1 (operating since 1989) and Unit-2 (operating since 1996).
The Company is equipped with the fully computerized State
of the Art Technologies. Major machineries are imported from Germany and
auxiliary machineries and other equipments are imported from
the renowned companies of Europe/Asia.

It is really tough to carry on business depending on imported raw
materials. In 2004 the POY section had been initiated by M/s Elias
Brothers to facilitate backward linkage with the Textile division (DTY
Plant) of MEB group. Currently the FG of POY plant is used by the
Textile division then the finished product of DTY plant, DTY (Drawn
Textures Yarn) is supplied to the local buyers of the country..
Companys main raw materials for Draw Textured Yarn (DTY) is POY, i.e.
Partially oriented yarn, which was previously imported from
Japan or Indonesia, Taiwan, but now the company manufacture the POY on
their own machine and Draw Textured Yarn (DTY) is used in
different Weaving/Dyeing mills. Per day capacity of the company is 20 to
22 MTs in case of Fine Denier and 25 to 27 MTs in case of
Fine Denier. They use this Yarn for Shirt, Sari, and cloth for the
Market as well as dyeing the yarn and fabrics. They have ready
local market with around 30% of import dependence for this product.
